![]() Each one of them plays differently and activates different builds. Each map nightmare has very different and actually more complex and difficult mechanics. It is not common higher difficulty -> more damage and health. And difficulty levels are also different. Weapons are all different, maps are different and not just "this one vertical corridor" and that one horizontal corridor", they are all have more than one special thing about them. But after I've seen how uncreative most of the other games in the genre I realized how good this one is. ![]() I did not dislike the game initially, I did not really appreciate it either. It also shows that the devs aren't afraid to make out of the box, wacky weapons to their game. The chaotic nature of their design makes the game absolutely charming, innovative and most importantly fun. Some might say that the unbalanced and all over the place weapon/evolution designs are a horrible feature in this game, but I disagree. ![]() Most of the time you move to control your weapons and their dps output, not to dodge, kite, space or control the enemy waves. Vampire Survivors, Nordic Ashes or Brotato. While playing on the hardest possible runs (turbo nightmare 5/5 AtI), even when you reach some simple early game power spikes, you really don't need to worry about your movement as much as you need in other games like eg. I was actually on the verge of refunding the game after realizing how much of grind the game was, but because I'm recovering from an injury I had time to get super deep into it.Īlso I'd still wish and hope that the devs would make skill based movement a lot more crucial for winning. The early/mid game grinding needs to be tweaked, it can completely turn off new players from the game. Sometimes you need to take a break and play other titles to realize what a certain game does well and what it doesn't. ![]() Like I mention in the review, after playing other recently released games in the genre made me appreciate Return to Abyss a lot more than I initially did. ![]() It's actually kinda interesting and funny to read how my opinion changes as I get past the grind wall and completely open up the game's potential. ![]()
